The VSD, LLC training team of instructors currently in Morgan City, La., for the 60-meter Offshore Support Vessel Training Program instruction hosted a group of middle school students at the training facility May 17. The eighth-grade science, technology, and mathematics students from Berwick Junior High School in St. Mary Parish were briefed on the importance of studying science and technology, and about how the emerging field of modeling and simulation can help preserve valuable resources through the use of simulators in training and instruction. The students had the opportunity to see the fire trainer in operation, drive the simulated vessel from the full mission bridge trainer, and operate the .50-caliber and M-240B machine guns in the small arms trainer.
